After obtaining powerful medium armor like Isbrand’s Greaves in The Blood of Dawnwalker, the next step is removing the penalties caused by wearing medium armor.
The Second Skin Training Manual allows you to improve medium armor proficiency and completely remove the negative modifier, making legendary medium armor much more effective.
Where To Find The Second Skin Training Manual
To unlock Second Skin, you first need to find an armor smith.
One of the earliest armor smith locations can be found near Margeear Crossroads, which is also located along the route toward a main story mission.

The armor smith is useful for more than just training.
You can also sell unwanted junk items here for extra Dinarius before purchasing important manuals.
Buy Pack Mule And Second Skin Manuals
The armor smith sells two useful manuals:
- Pack Mule Manual.
- Second Skin Manual.
Purchase the Second Skin Manual and activate it from your inventory.
Unlock Second Skin Through Sword Mastery
After activating the manual, two new skills become available in the Sword Mastery menu.
First, invest one point into Vigor. This unlocks the Second Skin skill.
Remove Medium Armor Penalties With Second Skin
Each level invested into Second Skin gradually reduces the penalty caused by medium armor.
Investing three points into Second Skin completely removes the negative modifier, allowing you to use medium armor without drawbacks.
Second Skin Upgrade Cost
- 1 point: Partial penalty reduction.
- 2 points: Further reduction.
- 3 points: 100% penalty removal.
Heavy Armor Second Skin Later
A similar Second Skin skill exists for heavy armor, but it is obtained later from armor smiths in Zvartau, the central capital area.
For now, upgrading medium armor proficiency is enough to maximize your current legendary gear.
